Sitting at the western edge of Oregon’s High Desert, Redmond enjoys a host of recreational activities and is a nice alternative base to exploring the Sisters region. Smith Rock Sate Park a world famous rock climbing site is located 8 miles north of town draws enthusiastic climbers from around the world. Redmond has been one of the most rapid growing towns in Oregon and lies 4 miles from the Deschutes River and several lakes.
Pristine lakes, rivers and streams amid towering forests of Ponderosa Pines, all nestled beneath the snow-capped Three Sisters Mountains on the east side of Oregon's snowy Cascade Mountains. Sun-drenched days, star-filled nights. Stroll through a Western style town. Sisters has it all - antiques, art galleries, crafts, clothing, specialty shops - right next door to many great places to eat. The food ranges from barbecue and Wild West fare to refined Pacific Northwest cuisine. On the edge of town, the Deschutes National Forest offers a 1.6 million-acre playground laced with miles and miles of trails, rivers, lakes, wilderness areas, scenic drives and vistas.
Camp Sherman is tiny outpost surrounded in whispering yellow-bellied ponderosa pines, larch, fir and cedars. Located mid-way between Sisters and Santiam Pass the area offers miles of forest trails, streams and is part of a 86,000 acre conservation area.
