Southeast Alaska which is also known as the infamous Inside Passage runs north from Skagway to the southern tip of Prince of Wales Island. The lush coastal scenery and island filled fjords weave a fascinating web of isolated country teaming with wildlife – bears, bald eagles, stellar sea lions, seals, whales and spirited orcas. Ancestral home to the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian bands where their history is portrayed on towering totem poles that span the coastal waterway. Domed churches reflect the Russian influence and heritage in historic fishing villages that today still subsist mainly on the bounty from the sea.
The Alaska Peninsula is filled with rugged mountains, seacoast wilderness and massive trophy rainbow trout. The peninsula’s north coast runs along the premier commercial fishing grounds of Bristol Bay. The small fishing towns subsist by servicing the thousands of commercial fisherman that travel to their boats for the herring, chinook and the world’s largest sockeye run. Sytrekking is an excellent way to discover the diversity, scenic wonders and prolific wildlife.
The south central region of Alaska represents over half the entire states population (260,500). Even though the majority if the states population resides in this area, it still offers abundant recreational opportunities and vast open spaces. Anchorage is Alaska’s biggest city and center of commerce for the region. The city affords an extensive bike path system, city and neighboring state parks, fine hotels and numerous museums displaying the rich Native American cultural history of the region.

The Interior of Alaska encompasses a region of spectular sites that include the renown Mt. McKinley, North America’s tallest peak and the pristine landscape of Denali National Park. The park sits in the shadow of Mt. McKinley and can be accessed by traveling from Anchorage to Fairbanks. Vast expanses of tundra, forests filled with wildlife and lakes and streams teaming with birds.
Western Alaska is well known for its celebrated rivers, lakes and national parks. Bethel is the major town in the region lying 40 miles inland from the Bearing Sea and is located in the Yukon Delta National Natural Wildlife Refuge, largest in the United Sates. The 20-million acre refuge supports one of the largest migratory bird nesting grounds in the world and each spring the skies fill with thousands of ducks, geese and other waterfowl. The refuge is also home to bears, wolves, caribou, musk ox and moose.
