Astoria is a city of 10,000 people on the Columbia River, just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean located in Clatsop County. It is surrounded by the beauty of the forest, mountains, 3 rivers and the sea. Because of its steep hills and beautiful Victorian homes, Astoria has been called the “Little San Francisco of the Pacific Northwest.” It boasts more buildings per square foot than anywhere else in Oregon and is the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies. Wonderful historical attractions and a refurbished 1913 street car add to the town’s charm. Plus a new revival in restaurants, hotels, local events and fabulously restored Victorian homes make Astoria enjoyable place to visit.
Gearhart is located 10 miles from the very tip of Oregon. Unlike most of Oregon’s seaside towns, Gearhart has evolved into a well-heeled residential community with an elite enclave of elegant vacation homes reflecting some of Oregon Coast’s finest architecture. Grassy dunes and distinguished homes strewn along a pristine beach fashion a scene from the early days on Cape Cod.
Three miles of powder-soft beach and two miles of manicured, ocean front boardwalk make Seaside a popular tourist town. A pleasant 90 minute drive from Portland, Seaside is a popular choice destination for north and southbound travelers.
Discover Seaside's secrets on foot - or pedal through downtown's colorful streets. They're lined with greenery and flowers - but no parking meters! You'll find dozens of delightful mini-malls, specialty boutiques, antique shops, art galleries, museums, arcades and cinemas. Ride an elegant steed on the Town Center Carousel and don't forget to visit the famous Seaside Aquarium, where playful seals and spectacular sea life are the highlight of any trip.
