Winter is a wonderful time to explore the “Sunny Side” of the Tetons. The temperatures stay below freezing most of the time with a clear blue sky and fresh crisp air. We have an average annual snowfall of 500 inches in the surrounding mountains. The valley is blessed with low humidity that creates true “Champagne Powder”. Our professional outfitters offer backcountry ski/snowboarding tours, snowshoe tours, and snowmobile tours in the winter wonderland. After a day spent frolicking in the snow, warm cozy restaurants and lodges await to welcome you. We have many interesting and unique shops and art galleries for your pleasure. Come to Teton Valley for an experience you’ll cherish for many years to come.
For visitors exploring the Greater Yellowstone Area, Swan Valley is ideally located within easy driving distances of major airports and the wondrous sights in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. This scenic community is located on The South Fork of the Snake River in Southeastern Idaho and includes the smaller communities of Conant Valley, Irwin, and Palisades. The scenic drive on US Highway 26 from Conant Valley to the Palisades Reservoir is 17 miles.
You won't find crowds here or long lines. You won't find malls or fast food. You will find premier fly-fishing on the South Fork, monster brown trout, hand-dipped square ice cream cones, meals prepared by some of the finest chefs in the region, or burgers grilled at a quaint out-door market. Our lodging facilities include one of the finest resorts in the region.
Located just 15 miles west of Yellowstone National Park, this high mountain lake is the kind of place fishermen dream about. The state park, named after explorer Major Andrew Henry, opens the Thursday before Memorial Day and closes October 31st, weather permitting. The park offers campfire programs and a Junior Ranger program. Anglers fish for cutthroat, brook and rainbow-cutthroat hybrid trout. The park has a modern fish cleaning station near the boat ramp. Camping is at one of 44 sites and there are camping-cabins also available for rent. During winter, information on Henrys Lake can be obtained by calling Harriman State Park. ID State Parks, Aug 2008
