Port Orford is one of Oregon’s true ocean harbors meaning the harbor is unprotected from the open ocean. In fact, private yachts and fishing boats cannot be moored in the harbor, instead boats are hoisted in and out of the turbulent bay via a 5 story lift. The public dock is great spot to watch the loading and unloading of boats, fish or just take in the beauty that surrounds this peaceful little town. Just 5 miles north of town and six miles due west of Hwy 101 is Cape Blanco Lighthouse and state park. The lighthouse is the oldest and the most windiest lighthouse on the lower 48 – plus the most westerly point!
