The spectacular Oregon Coast is perhaps the most famous northwest destination. It spans some 300 miles of white sand beaches - of which not a grain is privately owned. The northern coast runs from Astoria to Yachats with Highway 101 meandering the entire coastline.
Astoria is the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies. Founded in 1811, it heralds a storied past, boasting more buildings per square foot on the National Historic Register than all of Oregon. Astoria is a blend of hardworking port city personality and small town, historic pride. A choice of upscale and fun lodging opportunities are found throughout Astoria.
Cannon Beach to the south, well known for its prominent Haystack Rock, offers visitors a serious array of upscale lodging, fine dining restaurants, art galleries and quaint café's. This seaside gem has been called the Carmel of the north.
Gaining in popularity is Pacific City which offers three public beaches: Robert Straub Park, Pacific Avenue in the center of town, and our favorite - Cape Kiwanda. You'll find clothing and gift shops, cozy café's, and purchase fresh salmon directly from the dory fisherman upon their return.
Destination Northwest can help you find the best lodges and inns all along this spectacular coast.
