Approximately two hours north of Boise, the small resort community of McCall is found nestled along the south shore of the scenic Payette Lake. The striking community is surrounded by Boise and Payette National Forests, originally drawing tourists for its beauty. Today, the area is exploding with new golf courses, resorts and small inns. Nearby world-class skiing and nordic programs have made the once remote McCall and surrounding area a year-round destination.
The capital city of Boise offers cultural experiences from the performing arts to museums (notably The Boise Art Museum, the Basque Block and the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial). It's charming downtown district offers fun dining choices and a few great hotels. The city is abuzz from the capital building to Bronco stadium.
Just minutes outside of Boise, you'll find raptors gliding high above the desert and rocky canyons of the Owyhee Desert where cowboys still ride the open range. The sprawling Owyhee holds six million acres of volcanic rock, sagebrush, and rugged canyons. Most of this high desert is public land, overseen by the Bureau of Land Management.
