From Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Adara Whistler Hotel is approximately 115 kilometres or 70 miles. Allow 2 +/- hours for the trip (more during rush hour). Once you pass through Vancouver, the road becomes a winding, thrilling ride and offers spectacular views. Getting to Whistler can be half the fun.
Airport to Downtown Vancouver
From the airport take Grant McConachie Way east. Look for the green Highway 99 North or Vancouver City Centre signs. Follow the signs over the Arthur Laing Bridge onto Granville Street.
Take Granville Street north toward the city centre (first you'll see tall hedges; then you'll see tall buildings). Cross the Granville Bridge over False Creek; take the Seymour Street Exit on your right.
Follow Seymour Street north through downtown Vancouver to Georgia Street.
Downtown Vancouver to Highway 99
Turn left (west) onto Georgia Street; continue through Stanley Park and over the Lion's Gate Bridge. Upon exiting the Lion's Gate Bridge, take the Marine Drive West (West Vancouver/ Highway 1) turn-off. Cross the small bridge over the Capilano River; shift into the right lane. At the first lights after the Capilano River, turn right onto Taylor Way. Travel up Taylor Way; turn left (south) onto Highway 1 (also called the Upper Levels Highway). Follow the Upper Levels Highway through West Vancouver to the green Highway 99 North signs. Take the turnoff to Highway 99 North as indicated - it's usually on your far right near the entrance to the Ferry Terminal, but road construction sometimes necessitates a change of lanes.
Highway 99 to Whistler Village
Highway 99 is also called the Sea To Sky Highway, and you're about to see why.
On the way to Whistler, you'll pass through Lion's Bay, Furry Creek, Britannia Beach and Squamish. Your last stop for coffee is Squamish, about an hour away from Whistler Village.
As you enter Whistler you'll pass Function Junction on your left and a large shopping complex on your right (Franz's Trail), which marks the entrance to Whistler Creekside.
Whistler Village is approximately 5 kilometres past Creekside. You'll see a stop light, masses of flags and a green Whistler Village sign.
The stop light is at Village Gate Boulevard. Turn right.
Village Gate Boulevard to Adara
Take the first right off Village Gate Boulevard (Whistler Way) and continue around the Whistler Conference Centre. Just before the Whistler Golf Club Driving Range ahead to your right, turn left onto Village Green, which is a courtyard between 3 hotels (Listel, Crystal Lodge and Adara). Adara is the property on your left. Leave your car outside - we'll park it for you. Go through the bold red doors and let the Adara's Guest Services staff take care of you from here. Welcome to Adara Hotel, the best way to experience Whistler - you've arrived! |
