The newly constructed Smoky Mountain Lodge offers the comforts of a luxurious cozy lodge nestled in the vast pristine beauty of the remote Smoky Mountains of Idaho. The Lodge is situated on 160 acres in the middle of national forest land directly on the South fork of the Boise River. Located only 35 miles west of the famous resort town of Ketchum/Sun Valley one can access our Rocky Mountain lodge during the summer via a two hour scenic drive or private plane. During the winter access is via a spectacular 20 minute helicopter flight. Anytime of year, the Smoky Mountain Lodge promises to provide the ultimate in peaceful backcountry privacy.
In the summer months Smoky Mountain Lodge is the perfect setting for family gatherings, yoga and meditation retreats, weddings and corporate meetings. Arrangements can be made with local outfitters for an array of outdoor activities.
In the winter, the Smoky Mountain Lodge provides another layer of escape as the only fly-in heli skiing lodge in the lower 48 states. Sun Valley Heli Ski Guides offer a very private three day custom heli-ski experience in the surrounding remote peaks.

The newly built Smoky Mountain Lodge is a six bedroom hideaway that comfortably sleeps 16 guests and will deliver you from the pace of modern living. Modeled after the remote fly-in lodges built in Canada and Europe is a luxurious backcountry getaway with all the amenities of home. The building is conventional construction with all exterior siding, fascia, interior trim, and bar made from beetle kill pine harvested and milled on the property. Interior floors are carpeted or poured red cement with radiant heat in the floors. A wood burning stove and river rock fireplace heat the great room and provide for a relaxing atmosphere. Huge south facing windows provide the warmth of passive solar rays and the lodge is on its own power grid, using solar and diesel fuel and offering hydroponic heat.
The ground floor houses the master bedroom and bath, cook and helpers quarters, powder room, gourmet kitchen and great room with dining and lounging facilities.
Upstairs houses four carpeted bedrooms (2 beds apiece) and two complete baths. Magnificent vistas of the Smoky Mountains abound as one sits on one of the many exterior decks.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Nature Watching
There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen on and around the property, from Moose, Elk, Beaver, Birds etc. Stargazers will be amazed due to the clear unpolluted skies above the lodge.
Hiking
There is abundant but undeveloped hiking on the lodge property as well as the surrounding Smoky Mountains.
Mountain Bike Riding
Make sure to bring your mountain bike and explore the unlimited number of roads & trails surrounding Smoky Mountain Lodge. All rides are on your own to explore for yourself. We certainly can make suggestions and point out rides that we have done on the map.
Wilderness Summer Pack Trips
High Country Outfitters offers a variety of pack trips into the Sawtooth Wilderness of central Idaho, The Sawtooth Wilderness is famed for its miles of trails and its 200 lakes, not to mention its indescribable granite peaks of 10,000 feet elevation. Trips include meals, camp gear and guiding.

Horse Back Riding
Come join us for some great horseback fun in Idaho's Smoky Mountains on the Sawtooth National Forrest. Gentle mountain horses along with experienced guides will take you on a spectacular ride through some of the finest pristine mountain country you can enjoy in Idaho.
We can arrange for hourly, half and full day horse rides, overnight pack trips, fishing trips and daily guided fishing tripson the Big Smoky.
Fishing
High Country Outfitters offers many different fishing packages, from one day guided fishing trips and even one day horseback fishing trips, from there we offer 2, 3 river fishing trips and 5 to 6 day pack-in alpine lake fishing at its best. Our guides are expert in fly-fishing, either dry or wet flies; we also have equipment to rent. Fishing may be done by spinning outfit also, if desired.
Come catch native Rainbow trout, Eastern Brook trout, Cutthroat and native Bull trout, Memorial week end thru September, a fall run of Kokanee salmon runs mid August thru mid September.
Hunting
High Country Outfitters offers top quality Mule Deer, Elk, Bear, Mountain Lion hunts. Also, in November they offer a 4 day Youth Hunt.
Wagon Rides
High Country Outfitters LLC offers horse drawn wagon rides at Trappers Inn. They offer dinner rides on Friday and Saturday evenings, so come enjoy a great home style meal and take a 1 hour wagon ride from Trappers in the cool mountain air.
WINTER ACTIVITIES
Heli Skiing
It is the only fly-in heli-ski lodge in the lower 48 states. The scenic flight into the lodge takes 20 minutes and crosses over the top of the rugged Smoky Mountains. Check out our interactive map to find it.
All of the skiing/boarding from the lodge happens in our remote, Smoky Mountain terrain. We have plenty of options to choose from depending on weather and conditions. Most of the landing zones are within 5 to 10 minutes flight time from the lodge.

Ski Touring
All the seclusion of the Smoky Mountains, all the comfort of a luxury lodge. Let us provide you with the optimum touring experience. Hike and play all day, enjoy great food and friends all evening. And have dry boots in the morning!
Guided or self guided trips can be arranged depending on your experience level. Air or ground transportation can be arranged into the lodge for your group. Take advantage of our local knowledge to find the best terrain and negotiate the backcountry.

The only access to the lodge in the winter is via helicopter.
This section of the Rocky Mountains, tucked away in central Idaho, boasts some of the least traveled terrain in the United States. And with everything from high alpine terrain above tree line, to the lush riparian habitats in the stream bottoms, it is also very diverse.
Idaho’s terrain is underscored by the fact that until 1920 not even a dirt road connected northern and southern Idaho; and it was not until 1938 that U.S. Highway 95 was completed. |
