The Wickaninnish Inn offers panoramic ocean or beach views from every guest room, and direct access to Chesterman Beach. Travel + Leisure readers have voted Ancient Cedars Spa as their favorite in the 2008 World's Best Awards. The Wickaninnish Inn is not just a summer retreat, it has become a favorite storm watchers haven through the winter months. Their 75 deluxe guest rooms and suites offer fireplaces, soaker tubs and individual balconies set either above the crashing Pacific surf, or within sight and sound of the rolling waves. The Pointe Restaurant seats 75 all within view of the powerful coastline while serving exceptional northwest cuisine. Ancient Cedars Spa, rated #1 hotel & spa in Canada by Travel & Leisure readers, offers extensive body and esthetic treatments while a long list of adventures are offered right from the concierge desk.
The Wickaninnish Inn story begins way back in 1955. It is closely tied to the modern-day history of Tofino and the Pacific Rim National Park, as well as to the popular draw of Tofino winter storm watching. Many of the adventurous come for whale watching, fishing charters and the areas local surfing opportunities, or to simply let the natural surroundings calm their souls. |

The Wickaninnish Inn's two buildings, 'At-the-Pointe' and 'On-the-Beach' have been designed to complement each other and the natural beauty of their surroundings. Experience Vancouver Island nature at its wildest while enjoying the luxurious comfort of this world-class Tofino resort, offering Pacific Northwest cuisine and AVEDA spa services in a smoke-free, natural environment, where pets are also welcome to reserve!
The first thing you'll notice as you enter any one of our guest rooms or suites are the inspiring views of the ocean and Chesterman Beach, revealed by floor-to-ceiling picture windows. Step out onto your balcony, breathe in the fresh salt air, listen to the waves crash onto the shore below and you'll know you've arrived on nature's edge, in Tofino BC. As you explore your room, you'll discover that every need has been anticipated... private bar, beverage station, individual book selection, your own suite of cds, down duvet, and large screen television - in the off-chance you can pull yourself away from the rhythmic sounds of the surf outside. You might gaze off at the Tofino surfers hanging ten or simply ponder the glory of the evening's sunset or next morning's sunrise. In any case, be sure to take a leisurely walk on Chesterman Beach and afterwards, toss some AVEDA aromatherapy bath salts in your oversized soaker tub and enjoy a heavenly hot bath.
Of course, if ever you need to stay in touch with the outside world, communication is as close as the dual line phone and complimentary (high-speed) wireless Internet connection provided in every guest room and suite.
Guest room configurations include:
Full range of suite options
Premier corner rooms
King bedded rooms

Raise your glass and your expectations at The Pointe Restaurant. With over 240 degrees of Pacific Ocean viewscape welcoming your arrival, it may take a few moments to focus on the menu. Pacific Northwest cuisine is awarded a fresh outlook by Chefs John Waller and Nicholas Nutting and our acclaimed kitchen brigade. A longstanding focus on farm-fresh, organic Vancouver Island ingredients and the bounty of the very waters overlooked
by The Pointe defines the experience at The Pointe Restaurant. Dessert, created by our Chef Pâtissier with the purest chocolate and hand-selected fruit, garners a wide audience of admirers. Our extensive wine list, recognized by Wine Spectator, offers an intriguing selection of west coast bottles with the spotlight on B.C. and Pacific Northwest wines.
Nestled on the Beach level, the 'Driftwood Lounge' is one of our hidden gems at the Wickaninnish Inn. Offering a range of specialty espresso drinks, fruit smoothies and spa-inspired fare, it is the ideal spot to start or conclude a morning beach walk, or enjoy a light breakfast or an afternoon snack. With a wood-burning fireplace and boot dryer, it is also the perfect location to warm up after a winter storm walk on Chesterman Beach and continue your storm watching from the inside looking out. |

The West Coast of Vancouver Island is remote yet accessible and of course unspoiled, pristine and yours to discover. From extreme to extremely laid back, there are activities here for everyone during every season. Other than a camera, all you really need to bring is a relaxed state of mind and a sense of discovery!
Take one of our popular Tofino Beach Cruiser bicycles for a ride, golf nearby at Long Beach Golf Course - or charter a fishing excursion. If you'd like to get the big picture of our incomparable paradise, how about enjoying a scenic flight on a classic west coast floatplane?
Bear watching and birding are very popular - you might consider a nice hike in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, beachcombing or sea kayaking - an activity that allows you to explore the quiet inside waters of Clayoquot Sound to watch for river otters, harbour seals, bald eagles and a variety of shorebirds.
When you see the astounding natural beauty this region has to offer, you'll realize why the gray whales return every spring on their 15,000-kilometer migratory journey from Baja, Mexico to Alaska . Tofino offers a number of whale watching excursions that afford up-close views of these amazing creatures. Spring is also an ideal time to check out nearby Hot Springs Cove, where you can soak in the ultimate hot tubs - a series of natural rock pools, fed by underground hot springs, which flow down to eventually mingle with adjacent ocean waters. Surfing is popular here through Summer and Fall. |
