The Kingfisher dining room is a local favorite extending a warm atmosphere, friendly service, and fresh, creative west-coast cuisine in their oceanside dining room or summer patio, all with a splendid view looking east over Gartley Bay and the Strait of Georgia.
Situated on the ocean�s edge, the resort spa has 22 restful and relaxing treatment rooms. Therapies focus on the rich ingredients of the sea and are interpreted to reflect their unique West Coast environment. Guests enjoy complimentary full use of spa amenities including heated outdoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, West Coast steam cave and fully appointed fitness room. |

Guests select either a lodge-style ocean view room or one of the seven different layouts of beachfront suites, all having a spectacular view of the ocean.
OCEAN VIEW ROOMS:
Ocean View Rooms are located in a two-story building with lovely garden and ocean views. They are comfortably equipped with king or queen/double bed configurations. The rooms are furnished with warm pine wood furniture and feature a coffee maker, large TV, desk, wireless Internet, bar fridge, spa robes, and patio doors leading to a balcony or deck with a wonderful ocean view. A few rooms are equipped with a two-burner stove top. These rooms offer excellent value for one or two travelers. Other in-room features include complimentary coffee, tea and mineral water, as well as local, hand-made bathroom soaps and lotions. Complimentary parking, handicapped and pet-friendly rooms available. All rooms are non-smoking. All Kingfisher Resort & Spa guests are welcome to enjoy, on a complimentary basis, all of our wonderful spa amenities including our heated outdoor pool, sauna, hot tub, West Coast steam cave and fitness room.
BEACHFRONT SUITES are situated only steps from the shores of tranquil Gartley Bay and have a spectacular panoramic view of the Coast mountains, nearby islands and marine life such as eagles, great blue herons, sea lions and kingfishers. The suites are furnished with driftwood and sea-toned furnishings, beach rock fireplaces, TV/DVD/VCR, wireless Internet, king or queen size beds with most suites featuring small kitchenettes. Other in-room features include complimentary coffee, tea and mineral water, as well as local hand-made bathroom soaps and lotions. Complimentary underground parking, elevator access, handicapped suite is available. Pets are not allowed in our Beachfront Suites. All suites are non-smoking. By Car:
One hour drive north of Nanaimo or 8 kms south of Courtenay, midway up the east coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
From Departure Bay ferry terminal in Nanaimo, take Island Highway 19 north toward Courtenay and Campbell River. Turn off, at Exit 101, which is the Buckley Bay/Union Bay/Royston exit (same as the Denman/Hornby Island ferry exit) and then turn right at the bottom of the off-ramp. Continue down the curving hill to the lights (PetroCan across the street), turn left (or north) onto Highway 19A (Old Island Highway). Continue on this road for approximately 10 minutes. About 5 minutes past the small village of Union Bay, on your right hand side, Look for their rock and driftwood waterfall sign.
By Air to Comox (airport code YQQ):
Make your connection through Calgary or Vancouver to Comox. Shuttle service is offered to and from the airport from 8 am - 8 pm.
Direct flights (80 min flight) are available from Calgary or Edmonton to Comox via WestJet Airlines - www.westjet.com and Air Canada - www.aircanada.com.
Non-stop daily flights are also available through Pacific Coastal. Call 1-800-663-2872 to reserve or check their web site at www.pacificcoastal.com.

Most travel agents are unfamiliar with the Comox Airport so please inform them of our Airport Code YQQ. The flight is very scenic over the ocean and several islands and the airport has the second longest runway in the province of BC.
Shuttle Service:
Shuttle service is available from the airport, train station and bus terminal. Rate: $10.00 per person, one way. 48 hours advance notice is required.
By Rail:
You may choose to take the Railiner from Victoria to Courtenay (only 10 minutes away). The Railiner, which can be reserved through VIA Rail at 1-800-561-8630 or at www.viarail.com, is very scenic and travels along the ocean, inland across rivers and long trestles and offers a stress free way of travel. |
